The new guy from Moncton....MCBA...
« on: July 25, 2011, 07:37:52 PM »
Hi Guys,

My name's Joe.  Originally from Fredericton but have been in moncton for over a decade.  I've been brewing for close to 2 years and just starting to get into grain brewing.
Brian_S introduced me to the site and suggested I join to meet some fellow brewers and learn a thing or two from the guys at craftbrewing.
I've read a good deal here already and can tell you guys have lots of experience to share.
I travel to Fredericton quite often so I hope I can make a couple of meetings to meet you all in person and share some tasty brew.

Thanks,

Joe....aka FAKR

P.S.  I'm pretty sure I'm the only member of the MCBA...no hits on google....

Welcome Neighbour,

We'd love to have you drop in and visit, hopefully you can work on building a parallel group in Moncton.
We've done quite well with the growth of our little club, you may wish to consider signing up as a paid member here to gain access to our group buys, and see how we're doing it.
It's certainly not a requirement by any means, but I KNOW that I've saved at least 5x the $30 annual fee already since April just through savings on bulk grain and hops. Additionally there are other smaller group purchases/combined shipping deals that members do. It's really worth the small investment.
In fact, I'll make you an offer you can't refuse...
Sign up, pay the $20 of remaining dues for the year, participate in one bulk buy, to the tune of $50 or more, and if I can't prove you saved more than $20, I'll personally give you back double what's not been saved out of the $20...how can that be a bad deal!
I'm good for it, Richard says I'm a bastard, but that's just a quaint turn of phrase for how much he really loves me.
Think about it. Of course our 2nd Bulk Grain Purchase is closing right now, so you're probably a bit too late for that, but I'm thinking there's going to be another hops deal within a month or so, and a third grain run for the fall.
Whether or not you sign up as a fully paid guy, or just as a visitor, welcome again.
You'll find a great group of guys here, many of whom brew MINDBLOWING beer, and they're all great at sharing all the knowledge they have.
I've had a great 11 months of membership, learned waaay more than I thought possible and gone from Extract/Wort Kit to (modestly, he says) a not too bad AG brewer, all thanks to Dave, Kyle, Richard and others who share more brewing wisdom than anyone would have thought possible. (I'm also working on becoming the official Brewhouse MacGyver of the club, just for fun.)

If you get enough people I'll hook you up with a separate forum on here. We'd love to get a little more wide-area, and it helps to throw lots of guys under one roof. Drop me a PM once you got more than just yourself ;)

For now, welcome to the FCBA at CraftBrewing.ca

Welcome to the club fakr! Got your dues last night - as an FYI, we are getting some "club grain" on this order which includes a few base grains and some popular specialties as well - I expect we'll post what we have in the forum once we get the order in... Also check out the slants library in the yeast forum, Thomas indicated we were going to add 1084 to the library in August / Sept timeframe as well...

Welcome fakr, hope to see you at a meeting later on. Brewing is a great combination of art and science, that you can spend a lifetime mastering (and I intend to). Any questons, just ask away, and we'll help you make some really quality beers.

OT, but the club grain got bumped so Dean and Fakr's order would fit. We'll have to put that in first on the skid next time once the dust has cleared on this order - it'll expedite the next skid a little.
