for those interested, the CCNB in Grand-Falls can do Alpha Acid testing (and BA, HIS and moisture content).  They need 20g of wet hops and it cost 20$ per sample, just freeze some on harvest day.
I'll have my Fuggles tested this year.  For those of you who got some Fuggles from @Brian_S  I'll post the result so you'll have a good idea what's your AA%

When I first read the title of this post I thought it was Alcoholics Anonymous testing.  :pal:

So I've received the lab results for my hops.  I thought it was a Fuggles or maybe a Willamette but with the results, no way this can be either so I'm thinking that maybe it's a Cascade.
Alpha was 11.4% and Beta 7.5%
For those who have a Cascade plant, can you look at the pictures and just by looks tell me if it looks like a Cascade?

9# of wet hops

My cascade cones are much smaller than that.
The Chinook looks about the same, that would be my guess.

Agreed, my cones are smaller too. Alpha is a bit high for cascade too isnt it?

do they look like these?

do you guys think it would be possible a 11.4% Willamette?

it can only be either Cascade, Willamette or Fuggles

I'd vote cascade mine look very similar to those. You've got a shit load more though. But as far as looks go I'd say cascade.

Give a man a beer and he'll waste an hour, teach him how to brew beer and he'll waste a lifetime.

great info Pierre, thanks!  I still have some leaf on the bines so I'll check them tonight

I was actually up at Nick Southan's last night, he was saying the AA for his were really high this year. 13.7 for his Centennial, and also expects his Cascade to be really high this year as well.

good to know the AA for his centennial as I made an harvest ale with them :)

Nice, I just kegged my harvest ale today. Not sure whats up with S05 lately, but its been very high attenuating. Made a 10g batch and both buckets fermented out to 1.004 from an SG of 1.058, if my calculation is correct thats 93% attenuation. Beer taste fantastic as well, I don't see those kegs hanging around for long. :D

If Fermentis has changed something, I like it!

for me, most of the time S05 finish between 1.005-1.010.  If it's over 1.010 it's because I have lots of crystal/roasted
