Sure, go right ahead.

Just mention to him that the switch would add more resistance to the circuit so less current to the fan.  switch it off, and the circuit is back to original.

Or the circuit could just be switched down to a 6-8v circuit.

I had the same problem at first chris.  It was the magnet strength.  All I did was add another magnet to each of the existing magnets...which brought the magnets closer to the top and bang, no problem.

Yeah, I'd already tried that.  the magnets reach almost to the bottom of the flask.  I don't even have a cover for the plate because it added to much distance between them.

Anyway, I have the new stir plate now, and it's awesome!

Not that it matters now, but, Everwood has the same stir plate: http://www.everwoodavebrewshop.com/category/culturing-equipment/

They have a good price on 5 litre flasks also.

There is a company in Fredericton BAP Equipment ( http://www.bapequipmentstore.com/ ) that can order laboratory glassware, they indicate that they are trying to determine what type of glassware to stock.

Stir plat build.  I have the fan, power slupply, magnets and will pick up a project box at The Source.  I still need a fan speed controller.  Can anyone recommend where I can get one of them?  I throed thrift king with no luck.  Will try the soruce and if need be online but since it is the last peice before I actually build it, I would prefere a quicker route.

I have one from my DIY stir plate that you can have.  Are you coming to the meeting on Saturday?

This is pretty much what I used: http://dx.com/p/pc-cpu-cooling-fan-speed-controller-front-bay-mount-5986

I dremel'd an old clock radio for mine - works great and $0 cost. I found with my 12V 80mm computer fan, a 7.5 V adapter is perfect without the need for a POT to adjust speed (an one hard drive magnet).

Cool build Brew.  I have a 12v PC power supply fan and a 7.5 v adaptor from a router but figure I would still go with the speed controller.  Chris, thanks for the offer, I will definitly take it and will be there on Saturday.  Brew, I will also need a three packs of US-05 for an imerial IPA I have planned next.  Thanks again guys.
