Pretty sure my refractometer has a dual scale anyways... One side is brix and one is SG. So I dont think ill need to deal with that formula anyway

Ok Dean, I guess I'll just have to memorize the formula and do the calculations off the cuff everytime I take a reading...haha!  The only person I could see actually doing that is Richard.   Sorry Richard!

Even dual scale requires help.
The SG side is not accurate when there's alcohol present, so you still need the formula, a calculator or some kind of software to do it for you.  

You need the to enter the OG, and the current brix into the formula to get the actual current SG.

Like this...

The latest version of the LSA was pitched on Monday at 2 pm, with an OG of 1.058, this morning it's Brix reading is 8, which directly looks like it's 1.032, but when I enter it into the calculator, it's actually at 1.015.
If my OG had been 1.040 for example, the calculator would show that the same brix reading of 8 would only give me a current SG of 1.026.

Yeah I knew about alcohol affecting the reading... that particular formula isnt used for that purpose right? Seems like that formula is just converting Brix to SG... I had planned on using one of the calculators Fakr provided above to calculate the SG after pitching the yeast.

lots of easy, useful calculators on there.  I'm sure you'll eventually find a use for most of them.  Alternatively, you could ask Dean for all the raw formulas.  I'm sure he knows them all off the top of his head!   :lol:

hah ...I never suggested you have to know them off the top of your head as google will find them for you in a matter of seconds ...I suggested that punching the deadly long formula consisting of 4 additions and 3 multiplications into a $2 calculator is not exactly too difficult to try. But alas, others may have other opinions  :lol:  :lol:

hell, I'm still trying to figure out the difference between dough-in rest mash and sparge  :frazzled:
