The reason I designed this IPA is I find alot of IPA's I dont like due to the initial hop bitterness I love hops but not the bitterness. Bitterness is almost always the main point of focus If one goes somewhat easy on the 60 Min additions as I have with only 0.5 OZ but go heavy in the last 20-30 min on the hops you will achieve the perfect balance enough bitterness to say yes its an IPA but a very very forward hop flavor and aroma and residual sweetness in the aftertaste from the caramel malt used in the recipe .

Feel free to comment as I'm curious about what you think of this

2.0 oz.    Amarillo (Pellets, 8.50 %AA) boiled 20 min
2 oz.            Cascade (Pellets, 5.50 %AA) boiled 1 min

Yeast :     Fermentis S-04 Safale S-04

Terminal Gravity     1.013

I'd love to try this. That line of thinking re: hop flavour/bitterness is something I'd been hoping to pursue for a while.

you're dry-hopping it, right?

Well to be honest I don't think it will need it based on the amount of Flavor and Aroma hops Amarillo is extremely pungent very very pungent this will be my next brew which I'm hoping to do Sunday if you wanna come by that is if your not still dieing

I Will be adjusting the hops slightly
1OZ Amarillo & 1 OZ Cascade @ 20 Min
1 OZ Amarillo & 1 OZ Cascade at flameout

If I was to Dry Hop it would be Cascade 1-2 OZ in the secondary for 7 days

my previous IPA's Ive never really dry hopped and all have been fantastic

I am considering instead of dry hopping racking on to some Apricot puree to make an Apricot IPA still undecided may wait until I try this recipe first and then if its good make another batch and add Apricot

please dry hop at least a little for comparison; i think it would be a worthwhile experiment given the purity of the baseline.

perhaps even 4-ways: plain, apricot, hops, apricot + hops.

beer and science were made for each other. I have a couple of spare carboys if you want to borrow them; for science!
