Can I borrow a mill?

Anyone have a drill mounted mill I can borrow for the weekend?
on tap: IPA
fermenting: Roseway Red, Rye IPA, Tripel, Flanders Red, Sour #1
Cellar: Roseway Red, IPA, Brett IPA, Orval Clone, Brett Red, Rye IPA, Grapefruit PA

Waterlogged

I have one you can borrow but it is a little finicky. Everyone in a while it free spins and nothing goes through.  Can be a real pain in the ass.  That said, it is better than nothing.

On Tap: Hoppy Porter
Bottled:  Air

Do you have the OBK model Reid? Mine was doing that to me on Friday, and was a huge PITA.

I also have one you can borrow or you are welcome to stop by to crush your grains.

It's the OBK one and it occasionally free spins as well. I slide a small piece of cedar wedge (just thick enough) through the rollers when it happens and it seems to get it grinding again.

I usually bang mine around a bit, start and stop the drill a few times and that often gets it going again...

When I bought the OBKrusher mill it was pretty bad. Had to disassemble it and take the rollers out and round their ends off so they weren't rubbing on the chassis so bad. The free spin roller was not free spinning very well when it was new. It still stops milling occasionally, but now I can get the crush quite fine.

It sounds like this mill is consistently giving people problems.  Is there another mill that you would recommend?  I know there is the Barley Krusher.  Any reviews of that one?  THanks Reid for the use of your mill.  It worked perfectly for me yesterday (beginner's luck?).

Waterlogged

Sounds like a common problem with all mills.  I thought we had purchased a lemon.  I have had times where I can go through 15 lbs of grain in a couple of minutes and other times it seems like 20-30.  Glad it worked out for you yeterday Paul.

That doesn't sound good. I ran into the issue you describe after about 70 batches. The roller that is no attached to the drill ( the other roller) doesn't spin. I had to take the BC apart, clean is well, put some olive oil in the ends, reassemble. It's been working fine since. I am a bit more careful when I clean it. I take a brush to the BC and do my best to clean any dust. I make sure the other roller rolls well.

A couple of Questions: do you condition your grain before crushing? Do you lightly spray your grain before crushing? That could gunk it up.
You probably should take a minute and brush your mill before crushing.

I've got a Millars Mill its the same idea as the barley crusher and obkrusher its just a bit bigger but the rollers run on SS berrings not brass bushings so the rollers seem to run very smooth. It's a bit pricier and you'll need a US PO box send it to because they don't send across the border. But I love it!
