I bring my tank to Praxair (Alison Blvd.) and pick it up few days later. I think they fill them in Saint john, that is why it takes few days. I have 2 tanks of 10lbs so I don't care much about long waiting time.

I do have an account with them because of my welding gas, not sure if anyone without account can go there for co2 refill.

I took my 20 lbs tank to Kennedy and he filled it in 15 minutes.

I've never had an issue with a long wait time when I go see Glen. I usually give him a call before I go that way I don't catch him at a busy time.

I had my 5lb tank hydrostatic tested $32.50 and a fill $26.50 at Atlantic Fire and Safety, plus taxes.

Alain- do you own the tank or lease? Can you fill/replace the same day or does it have to wait?

Is there a yearly rental fee with Praxair?
I think the pricing structure is different in leasing vs. owning. I know that at Noble Grape, buying a tank is more expensive but then the tank fills are cheaper.
I don't think they fill your tank there.

Glenn and Atlantic Fire and Safety and maybe others, charge a fill fee. Each tank Glenn fills he charges $7.50 + $2.70 per pound + HST.
That fill fee might not be on the bill at Praxair.

I own my tank, I bought it from Dave at Everwood. They fill the bottles in Saint John on Monday. The only way you can have it the same day is to bring it in the morning Monday and pick it up a the end of the day.

FYI, Glenn Kennedy (458-9750) charges $7.50 + $2.80 per pound + HST. Comes out to $24.73 for a 5lb tank.

I think NG would be about $4 more. But they swap right there apparently. Assuming you bought your tank there in the first place.

Pros and Cons.

Glenn is awesome, he fills my 20lbs tank right in front of me in less than 10-15 minutes. He's also said that I can just drop it off and pick it up later or he'll come and pick it up from my house himself.

Yeah Glen is great to deal with. I'm actually going to see him today.

I went the NG route - bought a 15 lb tank there about 15 years ago. $34.99 for a 15 lb swap and never have to do a hydrotest since you keep trading it in. its worked well for me.
