Flying with beer

Hey guys, I'm heading to Toronto this weekend to visit a buddy and catch some ball games. Figure with all the recent success of the Jays they're due to lose both games I go to haha.

Anyway, I wanted to take some of my beer up in my checked baggage for my buddy, but with the homebrew transport laws I think I may just scrap that idea, and take him some picaroons. Anyone fly with their homebrew? I'm just planning on putting bottles in ziplock bags and wrapping in clothes and putting them in the middle of the bag. That should protect it from the Air Canada baggage handlers eh?

Also- any recommendations to try while I'm there, or any bottles I should aim to bring back?

I've flowna  couple of times with beer (not home-brew,) and it's worked out just fine.

If you can get your hands on Boneshaker from Amsterdam, it's a very good IPA. Also, Beau's makes some interesting beers. Some are just ok, but they're usually different than the norm. Anything from Creemore Springs or Muskoka is worth it too. I'm sure there are more, but those are the ones that stand out to me.

It's technically illegal to cross any alcohol over provincial "borders" but, to the best of my knowledge, this is never been enforced... Unless maybe if you plan on bringing a few suitcases full for all of us     I've flown back many times and never had any issues.

Home brew is for legal age consumption on your property only. It's illegal in NB for you to walk (let alone drive) your home brew over to your neighbor's house. Even if it's in a sealed bottle for your own consumption.  Gotta love those prohibition-ish laws

A trip to the Mill St brew pub would be a good trip, looks over their brewery.

Truth be told, I forgot about Flying Monkey... Also, Mill Street makes some awesome draught beer. They seem to move into the "just ok" range once they're packaged. On tap i've very much enjoyed most of their beers.
