This was going to be my competition enrty, but due to a series of mishaps I decided not to enter it. I was out of CaraMunich II so I used Crystal 60, but I highly reccomend swapping half the C60 for CaraMunich II. Anyways, people say its good, so here is the recipe:

8.5 lbs Maris Otter Pale
2 lbs Rye Malt; Weyermann
1 lbs Vienna Malt; Weyermann
0.5 lbs Crystal 60

Mash temp of 151F with 4.5 US gal water
Sparge temp of 168F with 4 US gal water

1 oz   Centennial (Pellets, 9.4 %AA) boiled 60 min.
1 oz   Amarillo® (Pellets, 9.3 %AA) boiled 15 min.
1 oz   Amarillo® (Pellets, 9.3 %AA) boiled 1 min.

This was intended to be a 5 US gallon batch, however, I was not expecting the massive amount of boiloff you get with propane as I use stovetop electric. Boil down to about 3.5 gal

Yeast :    Fermentis US-05

2 weeks primary fermentation, then add 1oz Amarillo pellets, let sit a further 10 days, rack to serving keg.

This beer will blend very well with other IPAs and with Bitters.

It also blends well with another glass of this beer. Trust me, I know... I had a few of these (read: most of a growler) last night :D.
