I just bought myself a pre-filled used 10lb CO2 cylinder for $120+tax from Atlantic Fire & Safety on Wilsey Rd.  They hydrostatic test is good for 4 more years. They'll fill the tank on-site for $35.  You just need to leave it with them for a day or two.

Great guys to deal with.  Much better than renting a 20lb tank from Air Liquid for $77/yr.

They're at 385 Wilsey Rd. Phone 459-1444 if anybody's interested.

Kyle

thanks - good to know.

Wow, the Air Liquide price has gone up, mine was $99 for three years on a 20 pounder.

99 and tax for three years? That's a damn good deal ... I was told it was higher than that (considerably) for 1 yr!

I called Air Liquid yesterday.  $77/yr.  You did get a good deal Kyle.

I got mine last summer for $99/3years.   I would ask them about it cause they told me a higher price until I mentioned about someone in our club had a 3 year lease and of course she said that they offer that as well.  They also had to do a credit check but it didn't take long 15mins.

Chris Craig

I think I'd sooner pay $85 and own a 10lb tank than rent a $20 tank for $99 over 3 years.

Richard

+1 on teh $99/3 - that's what I have. That's the lease on the tank though, it's not unlimited CO2. Think the fill is additional to that and might be the reason for the discrepancy if the $77/1 includes a fill.

Kegged: air.
Primary: air.
Bulk Aging: Silence of the Lambics (Pitched 13/05/2012).
Owed: JQ LSA x 1, Kyle Stout x 1 & IPA x 1.

No.  She told me $77/year and fills were $49.  I'm not saying she knew what she was talking about, but that's what she told me.

Jake

I just got mine maybe 2 months ago and I got the $99 for 3 years. Did you tell her it was for beer? if so, she may have assumed you were looking for the beer gas that some of the restaurants get, and I believe that's about twice as expensive, which would be closer to what you were quoted ...

10lbs will be good enough..   20lbs for me is overkill but that's all they offered.  I guess its just less trips to get refilled.

Yeah. I told here what I was doing, and she mention beer gas.  I told her I just wanted CO2.  I guess I just got somebody on the phone who didn't know what she was talking about.

I think I had the same lady cause it took a bit of talking to get that price.  I'm pretty sure it's cheaper for home use rather then industrial.  I'd say some of them tanks get banged up pretty good on the work site.

DandyMason

Yeah I get mine filled there. I bought a 20 lber on kijiji filled for 110 bucks. I got it filled a couple weeks ago for 75 bucks I think... Took 20 mins or so.

WOW!!!  :o  pricey...there's a place in halifax that charges around $25 i think for a fill if i remember correctly(about $25 for a hydro as well there)....just shows you how much markup there is for the convenience/monopoly of very limited places in town that do fills on site. As there's only atlantic fire and safety, and the guy in lincoln(can't remember what he charges). All my cylinders i've bought already had CO2 in them so i've never actually had to pay for a fillup yet.

HappyHax0r

So I checked out Canox over by my place for pricing on fills/cylinder leases...

He wanted $90.00 a year for the initial lease, and $70+ for for the fill.

Yeah... no thanks.
