Is there any reason not to use plastic carboys vs glass, or why i should use glass over plastic, or vice versa? bought my first plastic one the other day ...

Infection, only. plastic scratches = grub gets into the fissures and can (potentially) withstand standard cleaning regimes.

Just be extra careful not to scratch the inside of the carboy. I used to use plastic carboys for my ginger beer, but found they're harder to maintain in the long run.

Kegged: air.
Primary: air.
Bulk Aging: Silence of the Lambics (Pitched 13/05/2012).
Owed: JQ LSA x 1, Kyle Stout x 1 & IPA x 1.

I have noticed that some of the plastic ones tend to absorb a bit of red wine and it takes a several day star-san bath to get it out. Or there is a hint of it in the next brew.
