Damaged keg

So another keg I picked up has a small ding in the lip and so it won't seal properly. I'm guessing the keg is toast? Or is it possible someway to fix this?

someone told me you could just bash out the ding with a rubber mallet iirc.

Hmm - that might be tricky - its dented in, so I'd need to get a mallet inside and beat it out, back towards the hole yer arm is in - hmmm its not a great big ding, and the shape is sort of a rounded lip, if you look at a keg where the o-ring seals you see what I mean...

about half my kegs won't seal until there is some pressure behind them, have you tried that?

REALLY Hard to fix a ding in the lip, have yet to be successful...Mine are called parts.
Having said that...my Toronto brew guy used to say, lots of keg lube, use some pieces of popsicle sticks under the feet of the locking mechanism to tighten it up and it can be sealed, I just found it to be too much of a hassle.

yeah, I have one keg thats dinged and I use a penny under each of the clamp feet to make it seal right.

Yeah maybe only good for star san container - good idea... I did try extra keg lube, but only pressurized to 12 psi though. Hole is pretty big... the popsicle stick / penny idea might work - may give that a try... probably leave it though and use it last in case of emergency only...

+1 to what kyle said. Sometimes my kegs dont seal and I jack up the pressure for a bit
