As most of you know, I am new to all grain and would like to take part in the grain bulk order.  I thought that I would seek some advice on what I should purchase for my first order.  I'd like to brew a Pale Ale, IPA and a Hefe.  What are the staple grains that you would recommend me purchasing?  I was thinking about ordering a full bag of 2-row and maybe a few half bags of some others.  Which 2-row do you like best?

Richard

Depends on how many batches you want, but definitely:
Base Grains:
2-row (Canadian)
Maris Otter
Pale Wheat

Specialty Grains:
Crystal 110, 150, 240.

I'd go with 2:1:1 ratio on the base (whole bags are probably best), and 1/5th of that amount of each of the crystal (i.e. a fifth of a bag each). That'll give you a suitable base for all three of those beer styles, with some room for experimentation.

Others in the club will no doubt give you access to other specialty grains if you need them for a particular recipe.
