I'd like to brew an IPA this week but I don't have enough hops for it. I read on here in the past that people weren't sure about the freshness of noble grape hops. I've used them in the past for an Irish red brew and they seemed fine, but at that point I was happy to make something that tasted like beer. Are they good enough, or should I just order online?

Thanks for your help

from my experience if you use something popular like cascade and other popular hops they are good if you use something that's not popular I would order online

Be sure to adjust for the Alpha Acid. A lot of their hops in their prime are a lot lower than the normal %, meaning you might get a significantly less bitter and hoppier beer. And a lot of their hops are no longer in their prime, I've seen 2013 in their freezer about 6 months ago.

Exactly what @feldmann said, check dates. That store has improved a great deal over the last few years, but I still wouldn't buy any hops from them. Too many varieties left in the fridge, not sealed properly etc. Some of their whole hops are vacuum sealed those may be worth a look. Otherwise I'd rather order from a reliable source and wait a week to brew.

Thanks, I'll order online. Does anyone have a preference between everwood ave and Ontario beer kegs, or are they on par for hops?

Roger

I'd try OBK first and if he doesn't have the variety your looking for check with everwood. The hops I've ordered from everwood have been hit or miss...
