Before I started brewing, last year, the Red Racer IPA was my favourite beer. Tonight I decided to buy a can of my old favorite to compare its taste with my keged session IPA. I was shocked to find the red racer tasting like absolute shit. I'm not saying i make the best beer, but I feel that my average beer, fresh beer, is so much better than the nb liquor store cans.

I'm not sure if my taste migrated to something else since I started brewing, but the red racer now tastes like old brown hops.

Have you also gone thru that ?....

I think it's also because as we home brew more and more we tend to brew entirely to our own preferences. So when we have something outside of that it tends to be disappointing.

Not to mention that your home brew would be infinitely fresher than the Red Racer you would have picked up at ANBL.

I like Red Racer and Boneshaker, but stopped buying them because you never know how fresh they are going to be. Lucky if you find one that is only 30-45 days old.
