Looking for Wyeast 1968... Does anyone have any? Thought I would check before ordering later this week...

Figured someone might be using this for their competition entry. I'd be happy with collecting trub and washing..

Cheers,
Pierre

I did compition brew on Sunday and pitched 1968 into one of the carboys.  It won't be racked for a few more days once primary fermentation is finished.  I am planning on washing the yeast so may have a mason jar for you by the end of the week or Monday at the latest.

Guys, I was planning to do Chris's Bitter recipe sometime in the next few months, if you have any 1968 left over, I'd appreciate it... don't need much I can always make a starter...

I will see how much I have when I rack.  I also used a 1098 British Ale yeast so will have a jar of that up for grabs.  It should be used soon since I am only  pour a bunch of distilled water in the carboy, filling up a large 2 litre jar and then pouring some into smaller mason jars after sitting for an hour or so.  Did this last night with the American Ale 1056 from a pale ale I racked and it looked pretty good this morning.

That would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
I will be away for the long weekend but can pick it up any day next week if you have an extra mason jar... I can make a starter from it so I don't need much at all.

I have some White Labs WLP080 Cream Ale Yeast Blend that has been washed if you are interested?

Cheers,
Pierre

Good luck washing the 1968. That stuff drops out like a rock ... very difficult to wash in my limited experience!!

Jake, ever since you changed your avatar you use wrestling speak.  :D

Yes the 1968 - high flocculation. when it's healthy on the starter plate it looks like egg drop soup!
It's probably the only yeast I can recognize visually.

The equivalent in the White Labs is WLP002.

I'll probably have some mason jars in about a month.

Your right, that shit drops like a stone.  I have 3 mason jars that have yeast and some trub from a pale ale in it.  I was going to wash it a bit more but not sure how mauch I would get since it does drop so quickly.  I plan on draining the liquid one more time and at least adding some more pre boiled water.  Whoever is interested, it yours.
