Darkest Hour Black IPA

Attempt at a far maltier black IPA than previous attempts. More melanoidin-rich malts, darker caramel malts, and a higher mash temp than Black Like Your Heart.

8lbs Canadian 2-row
4lbs Munich
1lb Cara-Munich II
1lb Carafa Special III
0.5lb Carafa Special II
0.5lb Cara-Foam
0.5lb Cara-Munich III

3.5oz GR Magnum 10% @ FWH (70 minute boil).
2oz Centennial 9.6% @ 20.
2oz Cascade 5.5% @ Flameout.

Dry-Hop 1oz Palisade - for one week, after primary finishes.

IBUS: (not calculated) about 60. Yes I know it calculates at about 120, but the formulas are b.s.

Mash @ 154 w/5 Gallons, Sparge 168 w/4 Gallons: numbers were hit pretty much dead on.

OG about 1.070, FG about 1.015, ABV ~7.0%
