hard root beer questions
« on: January 12, 2016, 09:35:24 PM »
hey i am working on a hard root beer i have made 1 batch where i used 2.6 kg of dark malt extract in a 10L batch with an old time root beer extract 2 ounces of it. There was not much sweetness left in it that i expected the next batch i am going to add about 300g of Maltodextrin for sweetness.    Does anyone have any suggestions on what to add it to help with residual sweetness?

If adding sweetness is the objective, I suspect you'd have better results with lactose than  maltodextrin... Both will add body/mouthfeel but maltodextrin doesn't have much of a sweet taste.
Give a man a beer and he'll waste an hour, teach him how to brew beer and he'll waste a lifetime.
