Problem with Gas Line

Hey Guys,

I had bought a dual tap tower kit from ontario beer kegs a while back... and last week i just got around to setting it up. The kit also came with a CO2 tank and regulator... as well as about 8 feet of 5/16" (I think) gas line ... So I attempted to connect the gas line to the barbed fitting on the regulator, and it seemed like the hose was a bit too small, although I sort of forced it on. I then went to try to connect the gas line to the ball lock gas connection and the gas line seemed way too big. I attached the gas line and clamped it very tight, but I could still hear CO2 leaking out... Any idea why? and what do you guys suggest I do?

Mmm, that's strange. If you received both the gas line and the regulator from them, it should fit. I bought a kit from them recently (not the same as yours) with a regulator and gas line and it fit fine. He only carries one size of gas line and only has one type of regulator right now.
The leak was somewhere between the regulator and the Quick disconnect?
The fella at OntarionBeerKegs is a good guy, he could help you out.
Otherwise, you could maybe go to the hardware store and find either some line that fits. Or a barbed fitting (the one hooking to your regulator) that fits with your gas line.

Yeah apparently their regulator is made for 5/16 inch so the tightness of the hose on the regulator is just because I am weak hahaha... But the ball lock gas connection is made for 3/16 to 4/16 inch... so the hose is a bit big for the gas connection... Can I just put some tape around the barbed fitting to make it fit snug??

I would try plumbers tape on the barbed portion of the QD for sure if it's loose.

Maybe, but it might create a likely fail point and beer foam might come rushing out, all over the place, when you are not home.

The retailer has a solution, I'm sure. I've always used 1/4 inch gas line. You could always swap the 5/16 inch fitting on the bottom of the regulators for 1/4 inch, and use 1/4 inch line, but that's a big pain, and I think the retailer will have something better to suggest.

I e-mailed Patrick at ontario beer kegs and apparently all these connections are standard, which makes sense... Still seems as though the gas line is too big for the gas connection... but I will give it a go again tongiht and see if I can get a good leak-free connection.

You used the Grey disconnect for gas correct?

I had e-mailed the fella at ontario beer kegs and he said its all standard... It strill seems a loose but I am making it work

Dan if you need some line, I got 1/4 inch. I got my gas disconnects from OBK and they fit snug on it. I also have all your other stuff from the last meeting. Let me know when you want it and I can throw 10 feet of line in there for you if you want ...  I knew buying the extra line would come in handy, but just not this soon lol
