Title: Shock Top

Many of the reviewers on BA have taken a dump on this beer, I believe -  unfairly. Now I did taste this after spending the whole day packing to move in 30+ degree heat, so its possible that I am overly happy to sit down, relax and have a pint, but I'd say pretty good. BA link:

I'd give it a decent to good rating as a light summer wheat beer.

A: Amber, low head retention for some reason (wheat beers usually do not have this problem, although sometimes the citrus fruit can be a reason)

S: mild, bready, coriander, citrus

T: good session beer, lots of coriander (maybe a bit too much), some citrus, really easy-drinking

M: minimal

D: tastes like its about 3% booze, but actually 5.2%, smooth, would greatly benefit from being dry-hopped with Saaz if you make a clone.

I won't be doing a review here but you're right it's not as bad as people make it.
I had a few this weekend have a few bottles left at home. I think people crapped on it because it's made by Anheuser Busch.
Not much objectivity. I suspect that if there was a blind tasting, people would've commented more favorably on the Shock Top.

Wouldn't be surprised. I'd bet if the (mass) demand were there, AB would probably create a good (albeit not exceptional) example of pretty much anything. They're good at what they do, even if that is a quest for a very thin flavour profile right now.
