Title: WTB Small Carboy
Post by: McKraken on March 26, 2013, 06:07:36 AM
Just wondering if anyone has any 2.5 gal or 3 gal carboys collecting dust that they wouldn't mind parting with.  I heard Noble Grape can get some in for a little over $20, but just dropping a line out there.  Name your price.

Thanks,
Kevin

I actually responded to that one

I'm looking for the small ones to make 2.5 gal batches of bigger beers on my little set up.  I can't mash enough grain to do big guys, like say a barley wine.

I wanted to grab a smaller carboy and maybe age something in it, since I may be gone for a while pretty soon, and it would be nice to come back to a year old RIS, or barley wine, or anything really.  Just rack, carb and go.

The Carlo Rossi wine jugs are a gallon and you can buy them at the bottle exchange for something like 50 cents. They are pretty good for this application.

You can also get 1 gallon ones at Wine-Kitz that take a size 6.5 stopper (same stopper as your glass carboy, and can have screw on caps (thus in some ways maybe double as a growler) they're extremely reasonable price too, I think mine was 8 bucks?

Scoop & Save has them for about the same price.
