Looking to try a SMASH Citra IPA. Need about 9 oz.
Thanks in advance.

I know you said SMaSH, so it won't likely crop up here, but based on personal experience, a big Citra presence in a full bodied IPA with caramel tones (and med high mash temp) = magic marker aroma. Both Richard and I had ones turn out this way and I found them to be quite unpleasant. I've given away my remaining citra, but I'm sure there's some kicking around.

I remember Esty telling me that he had found that Citra was amazing, and very very finicky.
Sublime until you hit the magic line, then it self destructs as you cross the line.

Well, I am up for suggestions. I have some morris otter left but not enough of one hop veriety for a true SMAH recipe. So what would be a good hops fit to the MO? I did a pale ale last week with mostly cascage and will dry hop with some palisade (thanks again JohnQ). Something a little different would be noce. I was using Citra SMASH recipe from Beersmith that people compare to a Seirra Nevada PA so that is what intrested me in the citra.

brew did a kickass SNPA clone, might want to check with him on his recipe.
I do have a pound of Citra, I just need to make sure I can replace it on my next hops order, will let you know if I can spare 9 ounces.

Just about any hop will work fine with Marris Otter. Depends on the style, but here are a couple of guides to help you choose the optimal hops for the type of beer you are designing:
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/style
choose your style and read the description of its general parameters
http://byo.com/resources/hops
pick hops that sound good to you and fall roughly within the style description

I haven’t brew tons of ipas but the citra ipa I did awhile back was well received and actually made 2 persons start homebrewing. I don’t think it lasted more than a month!

Good to know Jamie. I will definitly be brewing this Citra IPA SMASH recipe.

Putting in a hops order from www.beerandwinefilter.com so should have enough hops for the citra smash and a few batches of best bitter. Thanks all.
