Post by: brynn on April 22, 2014, 05:23:11 PM
Looking to buy dark maple syrup for a cream ale and a porter recipie im working on. I can only find light stuff in stores. Anybody know where I can get the good stuff locally?  Im looking for about 4L/1Gallon.

Also whats a fair price for that quantity?

Hey Brynn, I searched all over Freddy last year for some, but had no luck. Everyone I asked looked at me like I was crazy. I checked with all of the producers at the market, and the organic stores around town. Bulk barn and Scoop and Save were no's as well.

I sold 500ml bottles last year for 7$.  I don't have any for sale this year, our season wasn't very good and I was too busy to work at it much. I think the local prices will be higher this year. The darker colored syrup usually comes later in the season. Our's was medium last weekend. Had we boiled this weekend it likely would have been dark.
