I checked them out they are 50 liter kegs with rubberized top and bottom.

Can these be used for keggles? I had understood that they cannot. I the rubber can be removed to make a keggle please let me know.

It is a lot of work to remove the rubber, but it can be done. To get the bottom part off, soak the keg in a large bin such as a plastic drawer full of hot water an oxyclean for a few days, and then it should be able to be pryed off. The top is secured with a metal ring that extends about two inches greater diameter than the fitting on the top of the keg. It needs to be cut off with a hacksaw, gently so as not to damage the keg, and then the rubber can be pryed off... Or, you can leave the rubber on and use it for fermentation or serving.

so with the bottom rubber removed the keg would still sit flat? I've read that some of these have a round bottom which is Why I didn't get them.

They are a bit tippy due to the curved bottom, but they do sit upright once the rubber is removed. When getting salvaged / scrap kegs that have rubber on them, they might be really dirty/smelly and hard to clean which is why some people remove the rubber.

i think most ppl who use the rubber coated ones just use them with electric...install the element and you're set.
