Kegerator
« on: June 26, 2013, 10:29:27 AM »

I'm on the lookout for a Kegerator and saw this one on Halifax Kijiji...  The price def looks right but I was looking for advice...
I don't have a kegging system yet so it's still fairly new to me.

Would this one hold two corny or two sanke kegs (once I change the tower)?

I'm heading to NS this weekend and am hoping to pick it up Friday.

Any advice is appreciated on a kegerator.

That looks like it would hold at least 3 cornys.  Possibly 4.  Looks like a pretty good find to me!

Looks nice. You'll have to measure to be sure, but usually those types of units hold 4 pepsi style corny kegs OR 1 full size sanke

That is a great find as is if you use a 50L sankey.  If you want to retrofit it with a new dual tower, corny fittings with the sankey, regulator, tank, etc, then you're paying $300 for a fridge with a sankey coupler.

I'd suggest you really think about what you want your final setup to be.  If you want 2 kegs and a dual tower tap, costco has a stainless mini fridge that will hold 2 corny's when you take the door plastic out and a 5lb CO2 for $159.
Brand new with warranty, just saying.

Now, if you want 2 kegs on tap and 2 kegs nice and cold to swap out, then you might want to go for the kijiji fridge.

I got one of those fridges a couple weeks ago at Costco on sale for $129.99. But I'm torn between converting a full size fridge or build a kegerator out of the Costco fridge.

For the price Roger, I'd convert it.  Great little fridge.  I have several friends that bought them and love them.

If I end up getting this I would probably look at finding a 20L Sankey or two to go with it and eventually switch to dual tap tower...

I'd prefer Corny kegs but not sure it would be worth the trouble/cost of switching?

The cost would be fairly minimal.  Just get a pair of disconnects, and cut the sanke coupler out.  $10-$15, I suspect.

Well this didn't work out... I send them a couple of emails, a text message and tried calling but they never responded.

Oh well.. I'll keep looking.

I might stop by Costco and look into converting one of their mini fridges...
