Kyle - Hmmm, I wonder why when I put your recipe into Brewmate, I get 5.8% ABV, when you said it was 9%?

Ah, yes, I usually get about 5.8-6% abv with the stout using the recipe you were looking at. However, I now realize that the beer you are trying to brew is actually the winter warmer, which is something different altogether, note that it is a 4.25g batch in terms of volume going into the fermenter. Also, you need a spunding valve.

If you like, you can come by to pick up the grains, I can provide everything except for the vienna and base grain. It's crazy with pre-christmas errands, but sometime tomorrow may work.

Oh well, I don't have the spunding set up yet... maybe after christmas. And thanks for the offer, but I think brew has me covered for grain and I have to go to his place today anyway.

I'll go ahead and try the stout... it's been 19 years since I brewed a stout:-)
