Looking to get my kegerator goin but I need a CO2 tank (Among Other things). Anyone have one to sell (5 or 10lb) or know somewhere that sells them for a fair price?
Where do people get their CO2 filled?
Whats the going rate?
Thanks
Brynn

I paid $26 or so at Atlantic Fire and Safety for a 5lb fill
-
I paid $21 for a 5lb fill. Kennedy, he's near the airport. At one point he was selling a co2 tank. He just might have some kicking around.
Noble Grape has a different pricing schema. The tank is more expensive but the fills are cheaper.
Do you have a big fridge? Would a 10 or 20lb fit?
-
I use glen Kennedy too. He comes to my work and fills, checks for leaks and drops it back off. I also keep mine outside the fridge. Gives more room and easier to see the gauge

@pliny (http://nbcba.org/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=211), no fridge yet... I just picked up some kegs and taps from @Chris Craig (http://nbcba.org/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=1174) and am trying to put the rest together over the next couple of months.

I used Glenn on the weekend for the first time. $63 for a 20lbs fill.

anyone have contact info or an address for Glen Kennedy

Leaving from Oromocto going towards the airport on that road (lincoln road?) towards freddy, hes the second house on the left after nevers road.
-
Just an FYI he doesn't have any sign up that I remember, but he is right across the road from the Lions Club, small shop in his yard that he works out of. He is in the book though.

Hey @brynn (http://nbcba.org/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=1967), if you need any advice on anything, let us know.
I have some extra clear tubing and some gas tubing I could sell you. I don't have any extra connectors or clamps or anything though. So you may want to simply order the whole thing through Everwood or OBK.
I probably need a couple of keg connectors and I may want to use Oetiker clamps instead of the hose clamps. Hey @brew (http://nbcba.org/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=137) , the club owns one of those Oetiker clamp tools correct?
-
Hey pliny actually no we don't have one of those tools, but you can use end cut pliers as well, they are way cheaper (I got a pair at the dollar store a long time ago).

went to Glen Kennedy's tonight he saved me i had a co2 leak and emptied my tank and my second tank was empty too just my luck.. 24 bucks for a 5 lb fill with him
-
Did it take him long to fill the tank @mikegraham (http://nbcba.org/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=2149) ? The last two times I've been there its taken an hour! For now I'll be going elsewhere.
-
About 45 min but for being after 430 and the only place I was happy
-
I like Kennedy. Yes, he's a bit quirky and I've waited on him a bit but he's a good guy.
Other than him and Atlantic Fire and Safety, are there other folks who do fills?
I mean when you bring your own tank and they do it on the spot.
I know NG does swaps and the other big places that do gas with an annual contract (Praxair, Air Liquide, etc).
-
I bring my tank to Praxair (Alison Blvd.) and pick it up few days later. I think they fill them in Saint john, that is why it takes few days. I have 2 tanks of 10lbs so I don't care much about long waiting time.
I do have an account with them because of my welding gas, not sure if anyone without account can go there for co2 refill.
-
I took my 20 lbs tank to Kennedy and he filled it in 15 minutes.
-
I've never had an issue with a long wait time when I go see Glen. I usually give him a call before I go that way I don't catch him at a busy time.
-
I had my 5lb tank hydrostatic tested $32.50 and a fill $26.50 at Atlantic Fire and Safety, plus taxes.

Glenn Kennedy 5lb tank fill: $24.15
-
10lbs tank refill at praxair is less than $25
-
Alain- do you own the tank or lease? Can you fill/replace the same day or does it have to wait?
-
Is there a yearly rental fee with Praxair?
I think the pricing structure is different in leasing vs. owning. I know that at Noble Grape, buying a tank is more expensive but then the tank fills are cheaper.
I don't think they fill your tank there.
Glenn and Atlantic Fire and Safety and maybe others, charge a fill fee. Each tank Glenn fills he charges $7.50 + $2.70 per pound + HST.
That fill fee might not be on the bill at Praxair.

I own my tank, I bought it from Dave at Everwood. They fill the bottles in Saint John on Monday. The only way you can have it the same day is to bring it in the morning Monday and pick it up a the end of the day.
-
FYI, Glenn Kennedy (458-9750) charges $7.50 + $2.80 per pound + HST. Comes out to $24.73 for a 5lb tank.
I think NG would be about $4 more. But they swap right there apparently. Assuming you bought your tank there in the first place.
Pros and Cons.

Glenn is awesome, he fills my 20lbs tank right in front of me in less than 10-15 minutes. He's also said that I can just drop it off and pick it up later or he'll come and pick it up from my house himself.

Yeah Glen is great to deal with. I'm actually going to see him today.

I went the NG route - bought a 15 lb tank there about 15 years ago. $34.99 for a 15 lb swap and never have to do a hydrotest since you keep trading it in. its worked well for me.
