Title: Bottles pry offs
Post by: Jmac00 on March 15, 2011, 11:52:47 AM
Got some bottles to get rid of, pry off types...standardizing my bottles to use picaroons so getting rid of the odd ones. Most are Garrison type/size (28 or so), about 8 or 9 of the big Propeller size (if richard doesn't want them), and about half a dozen of other types. Most are delabeled and clean, some are dusty from sitting and not being used. Let me know if anyone's interested.

Once they're all ready to go, (some still need to be emptied    ) I can take em to freddy next time i'm in town.

btw I'll give you some picaroons bottles in exchange (delabeled + cleaned).

what do you mean by pry-off? hell if you mean swing-top then I'll take those too (and trade appropriately).

ah, I see you mean the standard crown-capped non-twist closure. If they're over 500ml, then count me in :D

I will similarly be normalising my bottle collection soon, as I need to get rid of a boatload of 12oz'ers I hoarded before I got fed up of them being too damn small :P

want to trade those 1:1 for picaroons bottles? I've been moving away from the pic bottles 'cause the labels are such an epic bastard to remove.

I found soak + scrap + goo-gone to work, just compared to the garrisons ones (soak for an hour in soapy water) they're major hassle imho.

Goo begone works wonders for Pic bottles

I too have a large number of 500ml Picaroons bottles and 12oz non-twist-off bottles to unload. Anyone need any more?

If you have a few big (650ml+) crown cap bottles to give me, thats great, but I don't mind just giving them away.

The 12oz ones are from a variety of US places, mainly: Sam Adams, Dogfish Head, Southern Tier, Sebago, Harpoon, Otter Creek, etc.

Richard already claimed the 650ml crown bottles, but i've got a few 650 fischer's if you're interested? i'd take the picaroons bottles if no one else wants em...don't need em at the moment but later on might. Got a friend that just started brewing and he's using the sam adams if you wanted to unload them too....they fit nicely into milk crates perfectly  :)

just a FYI on some more 650ml pry offs, if anyone's got any connections at garrison ale house, i'm sure they got some bottles there. Not sure what they do with them though. I had a beer last week from the Cannery brewery in BC and they use the 650's, not sure where they send their empties though???

They hold them for awhile, I believe, until they're all accumulated, then send them for their deposit every once in a while.

I think.

if someone really wanted them, might be worth seeing if they'd sell them for the deposits....only 10 cents each isn't it?

Yep. I'm sure they would, or just give you some if you asked nicely... they want you coming back to buy beer, right?
