there's a canadian supplier as well for them.
http://www.barleycrushercanada.com/buy-2/ (http://www.barleycrushercanada.com/buy-2/)
i've seen them listed as another price on that site as well, so i'd contact him for an actual price first.

When I was in Halifax I went to noble grape in Dartmouth. They're got 6 or so they're selling for 175 each, which seems pretty good. I had asked if they would ship one up to the Fred store and they said it wouldnt be a problem if I wanted one. Prety sure its the ones in the pictures above too.

Thanks guys

don't you live close to the border?

I got mine at adventures in homebrewing...
http://www.homebrewing.org/Barley-Crush ... p_872.html (http://www.homebrewing.org/Barley-Crusher-Grain-Mill_p_872.html)
There is free shipping, so the price is the same as the barleycrusher website in the end.
(When I added it to the cart, it added the shipping, sent them an email and they fixed it.)
I had mine shipped to Calais, that cost me $3 for the pickup charge at Ace.

I live in St. George so pretty close yeah.
My Sister in law lives near Halifax though, we go and visit her a few times a year. I took the opportunity last time to go to noble grape and check out what they had down that way :P

Probably still cheaper to do the US thing....like JohnWay said, it was free shipping within the US...then a small charge at the other place. The Cdn dollar is strong right now.
And its hit or miss with getting things sent to the Freddy location of noble grape....sometimes they charge you shipping, sometimes they don't..just a heads up. Of course it "wouldn't be a problem to send it"...but you may end up paying...so best to grab it when you're down visiting your SIL if you end up going the noble grape route.

Well the only issue with cross the border is the customs taxes. Unless you go for the 48hrs, I think you only get 100$ before they slap you with the taxes.
I already have a mill. I thought I'd just let people be aware that NG has them if they want the Fred outlet to get one in for them.

$140 Canadian

plus tax and shipping, I figure.

Right now Ryan has a spread sheet going for the MoB with a price of $125 plus actual Canada Post shipping for the 7 pound hopper BC.

Just got my crusher today and did you guys just leave it on the default setting or did anyone adjust there's?
-
Everyone seems to have a different opinion on which setting is best... I've used both Dave's and Kyle's which have different settings (you'd have to ask them as to specifically what), but Kyle's took longer to mill manually so I'm assuming it's a finer grain.
Both Kyle's and Dave's crush settings seemed to produce similar efficiencies for me.

Ian, would you mind sending me a copy of the "proper care and feeding" document you got with your mill as I lost mine.
Thanks
Brian

I would but all I got was the crusher. There is no manual.
-
I think its only a single pager.

All I got was the crusher, too. No Paper with it.
-
I wonder if mine was the odd one. Anyway just a note to all you BC owners that should you have a small O ring break and drop out of the mill this appears to be normal as the mill ships with this ring to keep the rollers from spinning and it appears not to be required for useful operation(don't bother replacing).
B
-
Thanks for the info. I can't see the o-ring lasting that long.
-
Well its a bit dis-concerting when an O ring drops out of your new mill and theres no documentation telling you what it did or why it was there, they should work on that but O ring aside its a great mill. I had it apart tonight for its first cleaning (200lbs ground) and I can't see the brass bushing they used wearing out in my lifetime (assuming hand cranking). Great little mill.

I use the default setting, which I believe is .045"
Dave had a different brand mill, but I never noticed a qualitative difference in the fineness-of-crush setting between his and mine.
Yeah, the o-ring broke quickly and I was initially concerned, but it is not in any way structural to the mill.
-
It would appear the default gap is .039" according to the documentation but as I don't have a micrometer I'm not really sure what my mill is set to now that is re-assembled it. There were some marks on the screws that seems to adjust gap but I'm not sure what they mean.

Pretty sure Kyle's was finer ground than Dave's just from visual inspection, but regardless - I was just saying I think it's probably not massively important so long as things are neither being ground into powder or left intact.
