Title: Yeast washing with Chlorine Dioxide
Post by: fakr on January 10, 2013, 04:39:26 PM
I found a very interesting article on washing yeast slurries with Chlorine Dioxide as opposed to the typical phosphoric acid.

http://www.birkocorp.com/brewery/white- ... e-dioxide/ (http://www.birkocorp.com/brewery/white-papers/coming-clean-a-new-method-of-washing-yeast-with-chlorine-dioxide/)

Seems to do as good a job as acid, but retains most of the yeast's viability, unlike the acid wash.

Good read.  I'd be interested to hear what Thomas has to say.

Interesting - I've not come across washing with anything other than water before.

Here's another article on the site about using Chlorine Dioxide for post rinse sanitizing too.
