Time to strike temperature
« on: April 16, 2011, 06:56:04 PM »
Hi all,

Seems like an odd question, but how long does it take for you, using your system to get water from tap temp to strike temp?
My tap is 52F from the well, and I just did a test with 27 litres in my new kettle, on my induction stovetop, and it took 50 minutes to get to 170F, then another 20 to get to full rolling boil, just wondering if that is above or below average?
Thanks,
JW

sounds about right for a stovetop; fast even if you were only using one element.

It takes about 15-20 min for me to go from hot water tap temp, 131F to Strike water temp.

It then takes me about 90 minutes to get from that to the boil temp. I am, however, going to use propane once the better weather comes.
