Title: boil
Post by: DandyMason on December 10, 2011, 10:58:35 PM
Hey guys, so I brewed a brown ale today. Started running out of propane mid boil... At about 30 mins I started losing heat. Kept it above 205 F for the whole hour... But definitely wasn't boiling at the end. Other than the hops what else is going to be affected?

the malts we have available now are pretty good compared to historical ones, a half hour boil may be okay, the hops will be off, but I wouldn't throw it away. I have done 40 minute boils before for light beers and it was fine. There may be DMS, but probably not as long as the lid was off.

Yeah lid was off... I obviously ended up with more wort

Hopefully it ends up okay, I wont be expecting anything amazing
