3 piece ball valve
« on: August 17, 2012, 10:48:18 AM »
Has anyone ever taken apart their 3 piece ball valve for cleaning before?
If so, it it worth it?
Did you find anything in there?
Should it be done periodically?

I have a good seal on my kettle and I don't want to start taking it apart if I don't have to.

Thanks.

I've seen them taken apart and you can get in all the nooks and crannys, but I'm not convinced it matters. I wash / rinse my vessels and then run boiling wort (w/ pump for 20mins) through the side of the brewery that will be encountering wort post-boil. I just use 2-piece valves personally. I do rinse out and dump the valves each time before use as well.
