My wife suprized me with one yesterday.
I think I'll keep her after all...  ;)

Hope the beers in it are worth it. At $147, that's and avg. of $6 a beer, better not be too many $3-$4 beers in it.

Today is the first day for the Advent Calendar. Some Italian APA. It's chilling in the fridge.

Birrificio Del Doge APA
- Pours an opaque amber colour.
- Highly carbonated.
- Citrusy floral aroma.
- 1/4" lingering white head.
- Malty sweetness with a mild lingering bitterness. Flavous of caramel and citrus.
All in all a solid first one. I'd like to try a fresh one this one was bottled in March but I'm quite happy with it. At least until I get to Italy...

Day #2 of the Advent Beer Calendar. Today is a Hoppy Bavarian - from Bavaria no less. I'm interested in this one but I'm trying hard not to create any expectations. If I recall reading  the hops on the label are: Cascade, Centennial, Chinook and possibly Citra (?). I'm assuming this is a lager. Either way this is interesting because I would've  assumed more Noble Hops from Germany. (I have a weak spot for craft lagers but not often impressed. I wish I had the patience to make some more often.) So far we have Italy and Germany represented. It's chilling in the fridge.

This beer is a DIPA. No Lagers here.

2nd
Bavarian Winter by Camba
-Pours a hazy amber colour.
-1"+ of fluffy head that settles out to about 1/8" across the surface and holds.
-Highly carbonated.
-Tropical & citrus aroma with a little malt in the background.
-Low bitterness with nice hop characteristics all in all very decent not what I expected for a Bavarian beer.

Laiska Jaakko, Organic Dark Lager
-Pours dark redish brown.
-Very little head.
-Decent carbonation.
-Aroma and taste remind me of brown bread.
-A little bitterness at the end.
-I haven't had a lot of dark lagers it's almost like a watered down stout with more carbonation...
I prefered the first two to this one but drinkable none the less.

4th
The Tickety Brew Company, Rose Wheat Beer
-Pours a hazy straw colour.
-Very little head retention.
-Nice carbonation.
-Aroma of sour rose water and ginger...
-The flavour has a little spicyness with some floral notes.
-This is quite unique they either used some bugs to sour it a bit or it was an accident either way its great...
-This one is the best one so far. I'm saving the dregs from this one to add to one of my next brews.

De Mons, Inveralmond Brewery
-Pours an amber colour.
-Little to no head.
-Decent carbonation.
-Belgian ale aroma.
-Flavours of raisin and overripe fruit.
-It's a bit on the sweet side but that's fine it's gonna be my desert...

Sweet Krampus by Biermanufaktur Loncium
- Pours a very dark redish brown.
- 1/4 off white head that dissipates quickly.
- Appropriate carbonation for style.
- Aroma of raisins and toast.
- Flavour kinda reminds me of my dads homemade rootbeer in a good way though. A bit like spiced raisins if that makes any sense...
- This is supposed to be a Milk Stout but it lacks the roastyness you'd expect in a stout.
That being said it's pretty good I like the spicyness of it and it gets better as it warms.

The Crimson Bird by Naparbier, saison with raspberries.
- Pours a hazy pink.
- 1/2" of head that dissapates to around 1/8".
- Nice carbonation.
- Aroma of Sweet Tarts and raspberries.
- The flavour is of tart raspberries with a great mouthfeel.
- This one is very good kinda on par with day 4's rose wheat.
I'm loving this calender!

Silver Bottle, by Eggenberg
- Pours a clear yellow.
- Almost no head.
- Proper carbonation for style.
- Smells like a lager and tastes like one too.
- As far as lagers go this one is quite good.
It comes in an aluminium bottle so that's kinda cool.
