Hey guys, im looking to get a small chest freezer to hold 4 kegs... Anyone know of any deals? Been checking the re-store and kijiji...

Kyle

those are both good bets, something will come up, but you may have to wait a few weeks. When I get back to F'ton I'll be looking for a couple of them as well.

Might go check costco, that sounds like a pretty good deal.

this looks like a good deal, I'd buy it myself if I weren't in the process of packing to move:

Yup; looks like one of the older ones which double as nuclear fallout shelters - I'd grab it.

And requires your own personal nuclear reactor to power... :shakes:

Oh, and requires a chick and a dolly to move.

I actually bought this one a couple hours ago!! 40 bucks, I figure I cant go wrong really... I have a hop dawgs order coming in today with a fridge thermostat... so should be good to go! Any suggestions on what temp I should set the freezer at?

Kyle

it's really about personal preference, but about 7 degrees C is good for serving most ales, about 2 degrees C for lagers.

Yeah I'm considering jacking my keezer up a few degrees. I had it set to 2C to allow for cold-crashes as well as serving, but I don't like serving beer at 2C. Might have to get a mini-chest for doing the crashes + lagering.

Yeah Im thinking around 5-6 degrees will be good for my freezer. Still A few decent chest freezers up on kijiji Richard.

I need to work a little more magic on the wife before I can get another one ;)

have you tried to see if your's has the set screw on it? that way if it works, you won't need the other thermostat. Or did you mean you ordered a temperature controller?

here's the old thread i started about the set screw..in case you missed it.
