QuoteHammond River Brewing is has announced that they're hosting a homebrew competition! Open to all New Brunswick homebrewers, the style to brew will be Christmas/Winter Specialty Spiced Beer. A total of four bottles of beer will be required; the due date for sample submission is January 9th, so you have lots of time to get brewing! Local BJCP-certified judges will be joined by a local sommelier to find the best in show. The winner will brew their recipe with HR owner/brewer Shane Steeves on his brew system, and the beer will be released on tap in the Saint John area. In addition, the top three finalists will receive prizes from the Saint John Ale House.

Perfect for the brew I made during the MO. I'll be submitting some of my beer.

Official details are now posted here.    http://hrbrewing.ca/competition/

My main goal with this comp is to simply have fun and showcase all of the extremely talented homebrewers we have here in NB.

I'm bottling it tomorrow but it finished at about 8.5%. Initial taste tests so far are pretty good, its a little boozy but I expect that to mellow out after it ages in the bottle for a bit.

One month from today is the entry deadline.......hopefully some of you will have some entries in.  I'm in Freddy every couple of weeks and would be more than happy to mule back some entries to save you guys the shipping charges.

Hey Shane, what would you say about a brewery tour if some of us wanted to head down and bring the entries? Just a thought I had.

Shit guys... we need to scramble if we want to enter this competition, and we should try to represent the club!

Who's still in? Anyone heading to Saint John by Friday?

For anyone traveling down to SJ with entries, they can also be dropped off at the Saint John Ale House on Saturday as well.
