transporting kegs

Does anyone have experience transporting 1/2 kegs or less? The reason I ask is I took a keg of weizen to Halifax with me it was about 1/2-1/3rd full and when it was served the carbonation was for shit and the flavour was quite different. I'm sure it's not all in my head!

I would expect that some of the CO2 would come out of the beer during transport.  It would need to be chilled to serving temperatures for a few days before it was re-absorbed.  That's my best guess.

They likely poured a couple that were very foamy, then the rest poured well except for the low carbonation.

I'm hear you roger, seems the keg needs to sit for a day after it's travelled any distance

I think from now on I'll bottle condition any competition beers that need to travel any distance. Lesson learned I guess.

Growlers are a pretty good option too.

I figured it might be safer to take the keg instead of lugging around a bunch of glass growlers to Halifax. But I guess it might have been worth it since the beer I had to share at the Garrison gala was not quite what the judges sampled. I'm sure the people who sampled it were wondering WTF how did he get third?
