would this be a good pump?

I have zero knowledge regarding pump so I need help from the gurus here.  Found this at garage sales for 50$.  It's a water distiller that can distill 8gal per day and has a small pump that I would use for my homebrewing setup.  Here's what I've found on the web and a couple of pics of the actual thing.  Do you guys think it would work?

That is a positive displacement pump.  I am sure that the EPDM would handle hot fluids, but, I am not sure about Santoprene.  I have never worked with it before.

from the info here and here, it looks like it can only handle 125F liquid and I use a CFC so it's no good for my application.  I'll buy a chugger instead.  I might use this one to transfer beer though

I have one of those.  It's a great pump, and handles hot liquids quite well.  the only drawback is that it is only rated for 1.5GPM.

An ideal application would be attaching it to a shower head in a camp.  it's capable of sucking water up a hose 10+ feet verticle, and create a max output pressure of 60PSI before the pressure switch suts it off. 

I use it as a backup pump.  BIG WARNING...if you use this pump to transfer hot liquid from one kettle to another, using high heat silicone hose, and you shut the valve on the kettle being transferred to, your hose will build up pressure up to 60PSI....and it will blow up.

Hasn't happened to me, but came some bloody close.  I believe JohnQ has had the same experience with his.

Santoprene is food grade then?  Good to know you have experience with it!  I'll start collecting parts camlocks etc and built a small toolbox pump.  Thanks for the info Joe

Its rated for drinking water, and I verified that with the manufacturer.  It is a good pump, but like i said, doesnt transfer very fast.
