The price for a pound of cascade looked good.

Chris Craig

Yeah, I checked that out.  $13 shipping though :(

Chris Craig

Although it's the same for 1 lb as it is for 5.  I know I'm really low on Cascade...

I'll point Dave in this direction to see if there's anything he can do to help you guys out with that.

Hi Everyone,

I'll be posting an introductory thread soon but I thought I'd weigh into this one first. The shipping estimate is correct, I have literally taken a pound of hops to the counter and asked what my options are. The issue is that I vacuum seal the hops once I open the bag (I buy in bulk bags). A vacuum sealed bag of hops when packaged measures approximately 8"x6"x2" and weighs, well, 1 lb. Due to the thickness of the package it has to go as a small parcel and can't go letter post.

However, if I do not vacuum seal the hops (and I have some frozen for orders of less then a lb so it's an option for you). Then I can get a lb of hops into a regular brown envelope and it'll cost about $5 to ship to anywhere in NS/NB/PEI.

But Chris is correct, shipping through either FedEx or Canada Post really doesn't change until you get over 15lbs. It will all be between $14-18 depending on your specific location, between 15-20 lbs is usually between $15-20 and over 20lbs varies (and is much cheaper with FedEx).

I was skeptical about the shipping module too, trust me, but for every product combination I've tested it's come out within a dollar of the actual price.

As a side note, please follow me on facebook and twitter. Looking into the crystal ball I can foresee some promotions that involve free shipping or equivalent discounts.

Thanks

Dave

Thanks Dave,

I suspected as much with the shipping.  It's nice to see that you're not trying to make money on shipping.  That can be frustrating to deal with as a consumer.  I'm eager to see what you're going to have for hardware :)

Same here, I don't mind paying actual cost on shipping, but hate when a Vendor tries to profit from it.

Sounds like a group buy from Dave would be the best bet, to get to cheaper shipping...

... that or a road-trip east :D

yeah, I was going to mention if you guys did a bulk order, perhaps Dave and I could work out a drop offpickup half way between moncton and halifax...I could then bring the gear up with me to Fredericton...though it might just be cheaper to pay the shipping.
