For those you you who power your grain mill with an electric drill, what kind/model do you use? I had a crappy jobmate 18V  drill that lasted two years before finally dying, not a bad return for a $30 drill. Now Im looking for something more substancial, any good recommendations?

jeffsmith

I just use a shitty 20+ year old Black and Decker corded drill. Does the trick great and will tear through anything.

fakr

you might want to consider picking up a crappy old drill press off kijiji for $30-50...use the electric motor in it to power your grain mill.  Pretty much what I did.  works great!

I just had the same thing happen.  I went out and bought a Dewalt.  I wanted something with a Hi-Low switch.  You should keep the RPMs on the drill below 500 for those mills.

I use a Crappy Tire special Hammer Drill.
Lots of power, always coming on sale for less than $50

Yup.  That's probably the way to go.  I think I'll get a drill just for grain crushing.  The dust kills drills dead.

chrismccull

I have a Rigid, it is cordless and has lifetime replacement batteries.  It works really well.

Kyle

Interesting... I'm in the same boat as Thomas right now too.
