Anyone know where I can get some 1/2 inch hose that can transfer hot liquids? I was looking to attach it to the valve on my brew pot... and potentially to the valve on my mash tun.

Kyle

hopdawgs has it for aboout $3/ft, very pricy, but about as good as I've found in Canada. It is flexible, translucent, and food grade at boiling temp.

at $3/ft that's likely silicone hose, must one use this or is there a home depot/Kent's alternative that'll do in a pinch?

JohnQ

This one is a bit odd...I've looked pretty much everywhere and have only found it reasonably priced at the home brew suppliers.
Haven't found anything like it in the Mass Market stores, the wholesale places I get some of the parts I've been re-supplying are actually a fair bit more expensive than the Brew shops, and it can be had in the US for about $2/ft. So if you're already getting stuff in the US and shipping to a US address you can save, but for the amount you need (<10 ft) Hopdawgs really is the best deal we've found so far in Canada.

If I can figure out who's supplying it wholesale to the guys in the US, I'll get 100 feet and should be able to knock it down to $2-$2.50 a foot I expect, but like I said the wholesaler I've used for most of the parts are a multiple of the usual retail price.  There are a few things like that, like the camlock fittings that work so well with the tubing, what Austin Home Brew sells for $5, are $25 at McMaster Carr...Go figure.

This stuff...

http://www.hopdawgs.ca/index.php/equipment/tubing-and-hoses/silicone-tubing-hi-temp/

is rated to 500F and has 1/8" thick walls for an ID of 1/2" and OD of 3/4".

I've looked at both the local Kent stores before without any luck, but I'll check again in the new year.

Don't suppose anyone's found it in a lower ID - 1/4 or 5/16 inch specifically.

Not at all, as the camlocks are 1/2" though, I've not looked very hard.
I'll check McMaster Carr and see what they have.

Yup, it does exist in smaller diameters, but given that the price of the 1/2" there is 3 or 4 x the price we can find elsewhere, the narrower stuff will still be stupidly expensive there....got a few more places to try yet, I'll let you know if I can find it at a proper price.

OK, so the same place I got the check valves has several sizes at "reasonable" prices, but the net price shipped to my US address and imported would be about the same as hopdawgs.
I'll look at it when we go south again soon.
The sizes you asked about would run about half of the thicker stuff.

Thanks man... I need to get a bulkhead sorted out for my boil kettle, might just switch to the larger ID.
