Hello all,
I'm new to Saint John and found this forum on the web.
I've done partial mashes and extract brews. And am going to be my first all grain brew as soon as I figure out how to make a mash tun. I think a false bottom bucket is in my future.
My strangest brew was a coffee porter where I added 36 espresso shots into my primary. It had some kick.
Hoping to meet some brewers in town and make it out to a few of the meetings in Fredericton.
Andrew
Welcome Andrew - that porter sounds like something to try! Hope to see you at a meeting sometime...
Welcome Andrew - maybe a little bit heavy on the coffee there? ;)
(still sounds tasty - I'm what you might call an avid coffee drinker ;))
Hope to see you at a meeting soon.
Welcome.
This is a decent video on how to make a Mash Tun: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-F1J5b4ZnI&feature=relmfu

If you're talking about the bucket-in-a-bucket idea, I'd avoid it. There is no good way to control the temperature of the mash.
Check out the picnic cooler style that chrismcull posted.
Welcome to the club!

Welcome Andrew!
I like the sound of the espresso beer... I did a stout with a ton of coffee that turned out really well. Coolers really make ideal mash tuns for starting out, and they are cheap and readily available.
