I know this doesn't matter all that much, but do we have the specs for the different grains we have access to? I'm trying to get a more accurate idea of my efficiency.
On the weekend I brewed a 5 gallon batch of a Stone Ruination Clone, and I copied the recipe I had found on HBT into BeerSmith. The OG, colour, etc all matched what the recipe stated based on my normal efficiency.
When I brewed the batch, I got a higher OG than I expected. I was happy because I thought my efficiency went up with the use of the new Barley Crusher (by about 7%). Then I got to thinking that I'm not using exactly the same ingredients as are in BeerSmith (There is no Canadian 2-row for example). I'm wondering if this may have something to do with the efficiency (It's the first batch I brewed with grain I got from the club).
When I look in BeerTools (which does list Canadian 2-row as well as American 2-row), I notice that American and Canadian 2-row contribute slightly differently to the OG. I'm sure this is the case with other malts as well.
