Title: Your House Pale Ale?
Post by: feldmann on February 21, 2018, 05:37:21 PM
Something I struggle with a bit is having good, dependable house recipes. When it comes time to make a recipe I always make grand plans to do something exciting and never really nail down what I already know I like. A crisp, lightly hopped and balanced Pale Ale is one of my favorite beers for all seasons but I've yet to nail down a recipe that really does it for me.

So my question to you guys is whats you're go-to recipe for a nice pale ale?

I have one I've made a few time's I found on HBT called McNulty's Pale Ale (https://www.homebrewtalk.com/forum/threads/mcnultys-belgian-pale-ale.226854/). Show me some of your favourites!

I'm always trying to improve something with my beer.
But I've been also thinking about sticking to something simple as a house ale. Not necessarily a pale ale but I seem to brew a NEIPA almost every other batch...
However a NEIPA is very dependant on the hops being very good and fresh since it's such a very hop forward style.
My last batch which I kegged today was a simple Amber Ale it tastes great so I think I may just continue exploring simple beers. Maybe alternate between NEIPA's and old school recipes.

I like my PA pretty simple (like the song, I’m a simple man lol). Usually it’s like 90% base, 5% crystal and 5% carafoam. If the base is 2 row I’ll add about 10% munich or 4-5% melanoidin/honey malt/victory
I have a PA lined up tomorrow, 90% ESB malt 4% victory 6% carafoam. First time using Gambrinus ESB malt
