I would suggest using whole leaf hops if anyone has some whole leaf Cascade that way they will be able to see what they are going to be growing !!!

yep. In addition to brewing with them, I'll pass samples around for people to munch on.

Quote from: "Thomas"
even once they start to wake up they undergo aerobic metabolism first before switching to anaerobic fermentation and producing any alcohol.

(guess who's been reading)

So Thomas; what of the Crabtree effect? Wouldn't that cause yeast to start producing (some) alcohol immediately after "waking up", in the presence of beer-wort sugar concentrations?

Genuine question as I couldn't find any data as to the likely volumes of alcohol produced via such a pathway.

So, I'll be doing the demonstration March 8th at 6pm, we have the community kitchen at the Sobeys at the bottom of Regent street booked for three hours, which will be lots of time. I'll bring the brewing stuff.

Thomas is planning to stop by, and probably Dave. Thats enough FCBA people there, I'd say.

Guess what, NG has not yet delivered the ingredients, so I will be making some wort tomorrow. Apparently 2.5 weeks was insufficient time for NG.

Call them up + tell them you no longer want it. That is bloody ridiculous.

The NG order came just in time, the brew demonstration went very well, and about 15 people came.

The handout I gave everyone very clearly descirbes the brewing process and promotes FCBA.

Sorry I didn't make it Kyle, I managed to strain a muscle in my neck this morning and spent the afternoon at the hospital. The worst thing is I have a 2 liter starter cold crashing that will be ready to use tomorrow, but I can't even turn my head let alone lift a carboy full of wort.

Thats okay Thomas, sorry to hear of your injuries, hope you didn't have to wait forever to be seen in the hospital.

can't lift a carboy... you do have a beer drinking roommate, maybe he can do it.

Just an FYI that I had a few phone calls yesterday asking if I knew anything about a brewing demo.  It would appear word is getting around.

From who? I like the viral marketing angle going on here :D

In other news we're apparently the third link for "Craft Brewing" on Google Canada. Not bad, eh? :P
