So there is quite a bit of interest from members in the bi-weekly meetings. While our old location of the Picaroons Brewery was fun and will probably be available in the future, I've enjoyed the last few meetings that people (Dave and I) have hosted in their living-rooms with relaxed food and beer tastings.
Does anyone new want to volunteer to host the next meeting? Since many people will be getting rides or taxis, the host should be in Fredericton city-proper. As host, you set the meeting time, though 2pm is suggested. I would suggest that anyone who volunteers post their address info via private message to members rather then on the open forum.
Otherwise I can do it again.

SWMBO says "give me warning and you can do it here"

Ah Rumpole, I shall bring my own Pomeroy's cooking sherry for a taste.
-
I have no idea what any of the things you just made reference to are.
-
Nor do I, maybe quoting a play???
-
Figured a Brit would recognize the "Rumpole of the Bailey" references...
He was famous for calling Hilda SWMBO and drinking plonk at Pomeroys...
There was a book called she where SWMBO was first attributed, but I think it was Rumpole who popularized it.
If you haven't watched the series it's a must. It's actually the series that originally inspired my son to study law.

Never seen or heard it, but a significant portion of its airing was before I was even born :P
*looks for somewhere to get it*
-
do you have a demonoid account richard ?
-
nope. I don't pirate
needless to say I'll find it, thanks ;)
-
We bought the original discs for my lad as a Christmas present, I'll see if they are around here somewhere, not sure who currently has possession.

Anyone on the Northside able to pick me Up my GF is working from 8 AM-10PM damn inventory weekend at Kent
-
Ok, so it's at my place. Please confirm details so I can ensure there are enough chairs, glasses, etc.
I was thinking I might make a proper beef pie. Does anyone else have any allergies I need to be aware of?
(Kyle I'll understand if you don't want to eat any -- whilst I am 99.9% confident that no contamination would have occured, the remotest possibility scares the shit out of me)
-
Dave: I might. I'll ask the wife.
-
yep I'll be there. Don't worry, I'll bring my own food.
-
I'm in.

Bummer,
Can't make it now...thought I'd be able to get leave for the day, but we're down to nobody available to replace me, so...no dice.

So where is the meeting located at this week? And would anyone like a slant of ringwood yeast?
-
I would like a slant of Ringwood
-
My place; 2pm tomorrow (Saturday 5th Feb).
Will PM exact details later tonight (it's in Marysville)
I'll be making some food (pie) for people, to be ready for about 4pm.
Thomas: assuming I can use it to innoculate a starter, and it's ok being kept in my fridge for a few days, then absolutely yes please :)
-
Im still in need of a ride if anyone is on the northside !!!
-
Yep, the slants can be used to inoculate a starter, but you will have to step your starter up. That is, inoculate a 250 ml starter first using the slant,
then pour that into a 1000 ml starter before pitching. The slants are fine to be kept in your fridge for a few months before loosing viability.
Dave, I can pick you up on the way over if you would like.
-
Cool thanks Thomas Im going to try to brew first thing tomorrow morning then you can use my Pot if you would like and once I get a High heat silicon washer for my kettle you can keep mine
-
Dave: remember how you said every time you brew it takes longer than you thought? :P
(by my calculation, we took 7 hours the other day, so you'd need to start brewing at 7am to be here for 2pm)
-
Hmmmmmm I should really just buy the silicon seal I need for my brew kettle and install a SS braided hose in my boil kettle and give Thomas my old one
-
Can some one pick me up? I'm near UNB.
Thanks muchly

Hey Kyle, it would appear the 16 bus that runs by the Hospital also runs right by "the" place. :)

Sweeeet!! Good call Brain, I'll be on the 1:52 bus. there is a stop right in front of my place, AND it goes directly to the other place.
cheers
-

Hi Guys,
I won't be able to attend the meeting tomorrow. I got a nasty cold, and I don't want to give it to you!!
I hope you have a great meeting!

Good times had by all :P
Also I've been thinking -- we should probably split meetings into "business" and "pleasure" -- the former for discussion of matters regarding the club and e.g. teaching, demonstrations, etc; the latter food + tasting + drinking (note I separate those last two :P). What do people think?
I figure they could alternate weeks... i.e. in a week's time we should have a "business" meeting.
Not saying people can't drink or whatever, but we should have agenda, minutes (published), etc...
-
I like that idea as it will allow some business to actually get done however I wonder if perhaps the first hour should be club business then after all business is covered we could move to the rest.
It may be worthwhile to come up with a loose meeting outline and get everyone's input.

Having a club business session at the beginning of each meeting, for the 1st hour, or "until we're done" and then the casual meeting / social afterwards sounds good to me.
We can record the highlights of what was said in the club business sessions and post them on the forum. That way those who did not come to a given meeting can see what was discussed, we can do this starting next meeting.
I'm not a fan of Robert's Rules of Order, since its so dry and long-winded, but a very basic system of getting stuff done is a good plan.

Would that be the hour within which only one or two people show up  or would people start showing up on time??
Just a thought...

You want a say, your ass is there on time :P

Good point, keeners decide...everyone else drinks.
-
This could be done for sure as most meetings end up getting off track due to great beer !!!!
-
yes, probably the beer should remain closed until club business has been concluded at each meeting.
-
I'm gonna start a poll...
