Introduction
« on: January 25, 2011, 08:22:08 PM »
Hi guys, just signed up and thought I should introduce myself.

Anyone from the MoB list should know me, but I'll introduce myself any way.

I've been brewing AG for about 5 years here in Nfld and along with a select group of like minded souls been doing it in a group setting.
I frequent many forums on the net under different user names and am serious about homebrewing.
I enter in homebrew competitions ( I'm getting better ) and love the feedback I get from experienced judges.
Love to talk about HB especially with Canadians.

I also love drinking different commercial brews as is to be expected.

Cheers

Its good to see new people we have a varying degree of brewers from very experienced to some just getting started Kyle and I formed the Club in Jan 2010 and everything has gone very well from the get go we have loads of support from Picaroons Brewery
we also have set up a yeast slant library I myself am moving in April to a small community to attend Culinary Arts program and plan on starting another club there in hopes of spreading the word that beer does not mean lager and only lager and that beer that you can make at home is as good if not better than what you buy in the store I hope that you enjoy your time here.

Cheers !!!

As long as I'm talking beer, I'm happy, so yes, I'll enjoy it here.

Thanks

5 years of all grain eh, what kind of set-up have you got? I'm going small (for now), with a 7.5gal turkey fryer, 10 gal MLT, and a 2-tap kegerator. You mentioned in another post that you have a conical, is there a manufacturer in NFLD, or imported?

Cheers and Welcome

I go for the KISS method.
Simple 5 gallon Igloo cooler ( wish I had a 10 gallon one )
Walmart turkey frier propane setup
55 liter converted sanke with weldless valve complete with Ss mesh strainer inside
50 Ft 3/8 imersion chiller
Various toys.... refractometer, pH meter, Porkert mill...etc.

I recently bought a SS conical from Stout tanks and kettles out of Oregon. And a brewing buddy in NS sent me a plastic 6.5 gallon conical.
I keg the majority and have a two tap tower setup.

The things a person collects over the years that still get used. Carboys buckets. I wish I had more room.

Did I mention that he is a good buddy? He gave it to me free.

I like it, but it isn't as good as the SS one due to the fact that the SS one has sanitary tri clamp fittings. A snap to clean. The plastic one is threaded and harder to clean. I take apart the valves each time after I brew to clean and sanitize, but with the threads on the conical, I always worry.
Still, I love both. Makes conditioning that much easier.

had the best this evening:

me: I want you to try this, it's a great example of what I love in beer.
friend: *sip*
friend: so you bought this?
me: no, it's a young IPA.
friend: you use too many acronyms. I'd get drunk on this for sure.
me: *grin* explains the meaning of IPA
friend: so... what equipment do you need?

my friends, the word is spreading.
