On Thursday at 4pm picaroons is suppose to have there IPA in cask at the Garrison. I'm thinking about going to check it out, if anyone else was interested maybe we could meet up.
-
that sounds good, I might be able to make it!
-
Yup
-
Might be able to make it myself if the brewing is all done by then.
If you need a ride RB, give me a shout!

garghhhh. Work is nuts this week. Probably can't make it, but I may yet crack. TVM for the offer in any event, JQ :)
-
Ahh, just one...it will make the work go quicker. I'll need to be home for supper anyway.
JQ
-
What time is supper? I can probably afford an hour's hiatus.
-
Hah, that didn't take long... :) Jees man :).
I'd go but I can't. Wife, kids... and it starts an hour before I get off work and since this is my last two weeks at this place I won't be lookin at getting out any time sooner than 5pm ;)
-
Supper at 5 ish, so we'll show up for one and head off.

and yet you're coming to poker four hours later :P
JQ: excellent man, thanks.
-
I'll be there at around 4:30 with Colin.
-
Yes... Poker is after the kids go to bed Richard :D
-
Looks like most will be there around 4-5. Dean and I should be there around that time.
-
This sounds like a good plan. I'll probably stop by for one.
-
hmm, thesis progress is not going well for this week. I won't be at Garrison, but poker, coming!
-
Kids, sheesh.

Good beer. Nice to see you all out. We'll have to do that more often.
-
Ya I had a great time and it ended up being productive.
-
Wish I coulda been there. What was the beer like? Never had a cask ale.
-
yeah good times had by all, although next time I'll stroll by at 5 rather than 4 - I didn't exactly return to productive work when I got home :P
-
I had 3 glasses and thought it was real good. Much better than the original. :chug:
-
So the casks ... are they like oak casks or what? Dont know a whole lot about this obviously ...
-
Nope just a keg but they add the sugar to the keg to carb it. Pretty much the same as bottling homebrew.
-
The carbonation is usually fairly low too. The idea is that each pub could have the same beer, but since they pump air from the room into the cask to draw beer, each pub's cask as a slightly different flavour.
-
For the record, when I pulled over my Darkest Hour into a keg after the meeting on Sunday, it had the same sulphurous note on the nose that I found in the Yippee cask ale. It's gone after a couple of days of (forced) carbonation. Kyle confirmed the DMS, so I'm not nuts :P
