Frozen Keezer

I had the temperature controller resting on an old cooler beside my keezer so that the temperature prove could reach inside. When we lost power on Saturday my wife grabbed the cooler to put some of our food from the fridge inside to take to a friends house and accidentally knocked out the probe without noticing. We got power back Monday but I was gone all week for work and today I went to pour a pint and got nothing. I looked inside and everything is frozen solid. I had two kegs of beer, bottled beer, a bunch of dry and liquid yeast and a full CO2 tank that's now reading empty. Right now I'm trying to manage damage control, what's going to be wrecked and what should be alright?

Wow shitty deal. Once the beer thaws it should be OK maybe not optimal if it tastes like shit dump it. The yeast should also be fine you'll definitely need to do starters though. Do some research on freezing yeast its something people do. Funny the co2 is empty though. You might want to store it outside the freezer though makes more room for beer. Your lucky the kegs or bottles didn't rupture. Good luck man!

The CO2 may be ok too... I'm not sure how much the volume of it changes with temperature, but it's very likely the guages are calibrated to a certain temperature. Time will tell...

Ouch... shitty deal!
 
I'd take a few minutes to test the beer lines/connectors for leaks next time you use them just in case. One slow leak can make a huge mess, trust me.

Are the kegs looking bulged out any?

Let me know if you need a loaner keg of beer to hold you until you get back on top of things..
