Looking to get some pot?
« on: July 09, 2015, 10:05:34 AM »
OBK has a really good sale on brew pots right now, up to $100 off their premium kettles.

The 16 Gallon stainless steel advanced pot for $119 is one of the best prices you'll get for a stainles pot of that size with ball valve and thermometer included. The weldless fittings wouldn't be my first choice, but I know MANY homebrewers use them without issue.

I have the 15gal OBKettle and love it (although I kind of wish I got the 20gal for 10gal BIAB brews).

So if I was thinking of going to BIAB would the 16gal serve me well?

If you want to do 5gal it's no problem whatsoever (in fact it might be a little big... 10gal pot is probably lots). If you want to do 10gal BIAB batches 16gal pot is doable, but tight in my experience.

I BIAB with a 15gal pot and it works awesome for 5gal batches. 10gal can be done but you need to juggle a bit with a higher gravity beer.

Awesome! I remember when I got mine I was surprised at how big it was. Then I saw @Jake and @DandyMason 's pots...

I'm pleased with my pot. It's more than enough for 5 gal batches. With the grain bag it sits at around 9 gal.
